Day 66-69 7/02-7/05/01 Rain days Talkeetna, AK It started raining tuesday, and showed no signs of stopping, so I hung out here in this little berg, reading and catching up on my journal. I also talked with the Rangers, and found out the one detail I had been looking for: according to them I am now the record holder for the farthest solo unsupported bicycle trip to, and subsequent summit climb of, Denali. Thanks to all those who helped with my flooded apartment back in Houston and made that record possible. As a side note, the Rangers said that they periodically hear people say they're going to bike in from some great distance, but then fail to actually show up. Best coffee I have ever found served in a restaurant (as far as ordinary pot coffee goes): "The RoadHouse", Talkeetna. Needless to say, I spent a lot of time here while it was raining. Question of the day ------------------- Q. It sure seems exciting, but don't you get lonely on your travels? A. Not when you exhibit as extreme a case of multiple personality disorder as I do. There's a whole crowd of people in here, including such notables as the Czar of Russia, Hammurabi of Mesopotamia, the little Dutch boy who stuck his finger in the leaky dike, the estranged grandmother of Sir Issac Newton, two of the Three Tenors, and all of the Three Stooges. Nyuk, Nyuk, Nyuk!
