Day 55

Heading for the mountain
This will be the final transmission for the next approximately 2
weeks, while Mike and I are climbing Denali. We've prepared over and over
for this, and we are as ready as we can be. The main threat will come
from weather, and it is entirely possible that when we near the summit we
may experience unclimbable conditions, including winds over 80MPH and
temperatures below -30F. Altitude sickness can strike at any time,
since we'll be going to 20,320 feet (and since the earth's atmosphere
sloshes out towards the equator, and away from the poles, the equivalent
pressure at this latitude is more like 22,000+ feet). Eldon.

tomorrow go to 14,200 and make camp. go for summit following day if
weather holds. Mike.
